Secondly, a connection between the SAS chatbot and Telegram was necessary to deliver this to the camp manager in a user-friendly tool with limited internet connectivity. Peter nimble read aloud10/30/2023 ![]() Many times a kid will start asking a question only to forget what they were saying halfway through. While kids can be awesomely creative, they are not always fast on their feet. Second, it’s much easier to answer direct/specific questions from students-video is a pretty stilted medium, and it goes better if the kids already feel like they know me through my work. First, it motivates teachers to actually read my book aloud-assuring greater exposure and (I’m hoping) a bigger fan base for subsequent books. I usually do not charge for visits, but I do require that the entire class has read my book. The first thing I like do with Skype visits is use them as a way to incentivize teachers and librarians. One of my goals after The Night Gardener comes out is to spend a little time putting up some lights, so at least the dungeon looks cheerful! It’s actually a good place for me to work, but it has a definite “dungeon” vibe. Unfortunately, since having baby #2, my office has been relocated to our unfinished basement. If you plan on doing a lot of Skype visits, you will save a lot of time by having a set space with lights and an appropriate background-that way you don’t have to fiddle around framing the shot beforehand. This does mean that they stay an unobtrusive detail if you never use them, however, rather than becoming dust traps. For those who care, the credit card slots are the perfect depth for securely holding a credit card without losing it into the depth of the case cover.Īctually getting a credit card into the slots the first time is quite a challenge, however, they seem to be exceptionally tight and need to be “broken in” before use. These don’t personally appeal to me, as I have no desire whatsoever to be the “guy who pulls out his iPad to retrieve a credit card” and, as I’ve said before, do not readily practise the dark art of handwriting, but they’re handy for keeping business (or Magic: The Gathering) cards at the ready. Concealing all of the functionality of the case in one simple, contiguous detail.įinally, the inside of the case, which doesn’t offer the screen of your iPad the same luxurious velvet treatment, instead offers 4 credit card slots, and a little windowed ID card slot, in addition to a pocket for stuffing scraps of paper and other such nonsense. It’s all very elegant, very well thought out and very attractive. The clasp to secure the iPad loops through the edge of the case and clips shut, becoming part of the continuous strip that runs round the back of the case and becomes the clasp for the front cover. The soft velvet lining is delicate to the touch, and is a positively excessive and luxurious treatment for your iPad, which really isn’t going to scratch that easily. The SENA iPad Folio is all exposed corners, however, which is a shame, because the edges are exceptionally well covered and the cut-outs for the dock, speaker, volume rocker and rotation lock are daringly small yet perfectly well aligned. This is a common problem in Folio style cases that I’ve only seen address in Oberon Design’s quite epic caes, where the leather of the front and back cover is so thick that it would absorb any shock to the corners or sides of the iPad long before it was translated into your precious gadget itself. The other weakness is a lack of corner protection. A shame, as this is one of the SENA Folio’s weaknesses. Like the Noreve case, this strip of leather is reinforced and held in place with a strip of ribbon, allowing it to open just far enough to become a comfortably angled stand for the iPad.Īs is common with many leather iPad cases, folding the back cover behind the iPad affords a shallow desktop typing angle, the Folio is a little too shallow for my liking, however, and it’s clear that this isn’t designed in as a feature. The stand is beautifully disguised as a wrap-around detail that starts at the flap which snaps shut over the front cover, and runs around the back of the case where it’s secured with a second popper before finally ending in a hinge right at the far left (or top) of the back cover. SENA have included all the trimmings, bar the ever-elusive-in-folio-cases portrait display mode, which I’m starting to become convinced is a feature nobody wants anyway. SENA’s entry is sleek, sexy and sharply designed with every opening cut to an unparalleled level of precision and perfection, an inviting, softly-lined interior that effortlessly accepts the iPad, and a trio of satisfyingly snappy closures not only for the front cover, but to cleverly secure the iPad in and hold the stand closed too. SENA, however, have not only entered the iPad case fray, but they’ve done it in full force and produced a Folio case that combines the best of the competition into a single, polished whole. With so very many folio-style iPad cases on the market at the moment, you might think manufacturers would lose all hope of grabbing their piece of the pie. having the characteristics or form of a gadget resembling a mechanical contrivance or device. Packers stubhub10/30/2023 It’s important to note that the Fan Cost Index measures face value tickets bought directly from the teams and not from online brokers like StubHub or TicketMaster.įorbes studied data from those secondary ticket markets (StubHub, TicketMaster, NFL Ticket Exchange, etc.) from the 2012 season and reported tickets at Lambeau Field sold for 217.9 percent over face value. In a piece I wrote pleading the NFL to consider showing games in movie theaters, I noted that the Fan Cost Index reported the cost of attending an NFL game was $337.72 in 2014. ![]() This metric includes four average-priced tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular-size hot dogs, parking for one car, two game programs and two of the least-expensive, adult-sized caps. One way to measure the expense of attending a game is through a metric called Fan Cost Index. Attending a Packers game is more expensive than you think That’s a loss of over $200 for a season ticket holder with four seats. ![]() The experience of attending regular season games is so great that the league can bolt on meaningless exhibition contests, and fans will suck it up and lay the money down.įor fans who don’t wish to see the preseason game and would rather sell their tickets, 50-yard line tickets in 2016’s preseason averaged just $20 each throughout the league. The NFL has been slow to shrink or modify the preseason because of policies like Green Bay’s that forces season ticket holders to buy preseason tickets. It’s a nice gesture by the Packers to acknowledge that the preseason games aren’t of the same quality as the regular season games. For bleacher seats between the 20-yard lines, regular season tickets are $131 each while the preseason game is $71. The price difference between a preseason and regular season ticket is significant, but not enough. Until 2016, there was no discount to watch an exhibition contest. Both Green package and Gold package season ticket holders must purchase one preseason game. The one cure that winning cannot fix is the mandatory preseason ticket, however. Within ten days of Rodgers’ injury, the average price to see the Packers dropped by $100. Packers fans saw in 2017 firsthand what problems lay underneath the surface when Aaron Rodgers went down for most of the season. Winning cures and covers a lot of problems. The Packers and their preseason ticket problem It’s no longer about “who you know” if you want to go to a game at Lambeau Field. If you weren’t a season ticket holder and wanted to attend a game before the internet, you either had to contact a ticket broker, respond to a classified ad in the newspaper, or hope to buy a ticket near the stadium on game day. One reason why is because tickets are more available today than ever before. More than 133,000 people are on the waiting list to purchase Packers season tickets, though Jason Wilde suggests just two-thirds would actually buy tickets if given the chance. Vince Lombardi was the Packers head coach the last time there were unsold seats at Lambeau Field. His successor Mark Murphy has raised prices for nine consecutive seasons. In the five seasons from 2014 to today, the Packers raised ticket prices each year for a combined total of $27 per seat.īob Harlan, the Packers previous President & CEO, had a habit of raising ticket prices every other season. In a five season stretch from 2003 to 2007, the Packers raised ticket prices just three times for a combined total of $13 per seat. Raising ticket prices makes sense, but nine straight years? ![]() ![]() While the decision to raise ticket prices makes rational sense, it’s a bad look for the Packers organization. Visiting teams get a percentage of ticket sales. When the team chose to not raise prices on tickets from 2007-2009, other NFL teams expressed frustration with the decision.Per President and CEO Mark Murphy, the team aims to price their tickets in the middle of the league.Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette explained the rationale behind the changes: The Green package (six regular season games and one preseason game) will increase by $44 per seat and the Gold package (two regular season games and one preseason game) will increase by $16 per seat. For the ninth consecutive season, the Packers announced that they’re raising ticket prices. Intimidating a victim10/30/2023 ![]() We misinterpret others’ true intentions all the time, relying on the evolutionarily hard-won ability to make snap judgments to survive, leading to vicious cycles of misunderstanding and miscommunication as our distorted assumptions become a social reality in the absence of corrective measures. This can work both ways, such as when someone who is shy or socially anxious is viewed as thinking they are “too good,” are seen as believing they are superior to others. Aside from developmental factors, some people may be predisposed to misinterpret social cues as threats or anger when they actually represent a different emotion, such as nervousness or anxiety. ![]() We trade off being more likely to detect predators for being more likely to think someone may be a threat when they are actually not. The result of a history of being repeatedly intimidated - When we have been bullied, neglected, or otherwise victimized, there is a good chance that we will over-read threat in others as a self-protective measure. When we are taught to see others as a threat, as inferior, as resentful, our unconscious bias can be so deeply conditioned into us that we are hard-pressed to catch even a glimpse of ourselves in the proverbial mirror.ģ. When the entire culture is suffused with bias, it is hard to say who is intimidating and who is intimidated-and what is really going on may be exactly the opposite of what we think is happening. Those in positions of power may feel insecure about their own value and feel intimidated by assertive employees from marginalized groups, holding stereotypes and feeling irrational fears. Racism is notorious for the mislabeling of individuals as intimidating for malign purposes and out of distorted beliefs. For example, Bolino and Turnley conducted workplace research showing that women perceived as intimidating were both seen as less likable and less capable than men perceived as intimidating. A consequence of unconscious bias - Racial stereotypes, gender, institutionalized racism, sexism, antisemitism, and other forms of bias may motivate others to label a person as intimidating when they are not. 5 Signs of an Emotionally Immature Partnerġ.
